Rental Car Shortage Expected to Last Into 2022

     The worldwide shortage of microchips used in the average new car, is expected to last into 2022, meaning the car rental shortage is also expected to last at least as long.  With production still slowed on the microchips, the chips they do have are going into priority vehicles, such as trucks and SUVs that bring the highest profit, leaving only a small number of economy cars for rental car agencies to purchase.
   Experts suggest travelers book their car rentals for the holidays as early as possible for the best availability.

TSA Reports Record Number of Firearms

  The Transportation Security Administration has announced that a 20-year record has been broken for travelers stopped with firearms at the airport.  As of October 3rd, 4,495 travelers have been stopped from carrying firearms onto flights in 2021. 
   Passengers are permitted to travel with unloaded firearms as checked luggage if they are packed properly and the airline is notified before the flight.  Travelers who try to take a firearm through a TSA security checkpoint however, could face costly fines, and TSA PreCheck members could lose their expedited screening privileges.

Marriott Brings Breakfast Back

   The pandemic brought many challenges to normal hotel operations, including breakfast services.  Over the past year, most properties suspended or modified  their hot breakfast offerings during the global health crisis. 
   This month, Marriott will reintroduce hot breakfast buffets at a “select number” of Fairfield, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites properties.
