Virgin Hyperloop Brings Certification Center to West Virginia

This month marks 73 years since American Test Pilot, Chuck Yeager, a West Virginia native, made history as the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound.  It is then only fitting that the state of West Virginia will now become home to the new Virgin Hyperloop Certification Center
Construction on the 800-acre complex is set to begin in 2021 and the site will serve as a facility focused on developing and refining Hyperloop technology.
Hyperloop operates a series of pods that have the ability to move people and goods through a vacuum at speeds exceeding 600 miles per hour.  This means a person could travel from Pittsburgh to Chicago in just 40 minutes or from New York City to Washington, D.C., in 30 minutes.
This new certification center will play an important role in Virgin Hyperloop’s goal of obtaining safety certification by 2025, and beginning commercial operations by 2030.
We, at National Travel, are thrilled about this new opportunity for our home state, and look forward to working with this innovative method of travel in the future!
