Online Travel Scams – Reason to use a Travel Agent

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has recently noted an increase in travel-related scams as the demand for travel continues to grow.  Victims are discovering “too-good-to-be-true” ticket prices on third-party websites and losing money to counterfeit travel booking sites.

As a result, a pair of senators have begun to push the FTC to develop strategies to address this issue.  Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. and Steve Daines, R-Mont. believe it to be critical that travel consumers be well informed and ensure that Americans understand how to identify and combat travel scams.

New face-covering guidance will not apply to travel

On May 13th, the CDC announced new guidance regarding the requirement of face-coverings in public settings.  The agency now says that individuals who are fully vaccinated can now avoid wearing masks while in indoor locations, but the U.S. Government has made no indication that the new guidance will apply to air and public transit.

The CDC still recommends that those who work in public transportation and those traveling by public transportation, still follow federal requirements regarding face coverings.

On April 30th, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) extended the mask mandate within transportation networks until September 13th, and the agency plans to continue to work with the CDC to evaluate needs and traveler safety.
