Hertz Exits Chapter 11
Following the impacts of the pandemic on the travel industry, Hertz filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy on May 22, 2020. The rental car agency has now successfully completed their restructuring process and says that they are ready to exit Chapter 11 stronger than before. Backed by investors, the company has been able to reduce their corporate debt by nearly 80 percent.

CDC Appeals Florida’s Win
Florida’s recent win against the CDC’s Conditional Sail Order (CSO) is now being challenged by the agency. The win in federal court could have lifted the CSO as early as July 18th, but the CDC has now filed a motion to bring the case to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. The CDC argues that the order was not in place to “shut down” the cruising industry, as Florida representatives have suggested, but rather to provide a path to move forward safely.

Airlines Could be Required to Refund Bag Fees
The U.S. Transportation Department wants to propose that airlines should be required to refund checked bag fees for baggage delays.

Delta and Virgin Atlantic Return to Heathrow Home
On July 15th, the two airlines will resume operations from London Heathrow Terminal 3, which has been closed for over a year during the pandemic.

The agency has released a new PSA to thwart the rise in unruly passengers.
New Route Highlights
Aeromexico: Service resumed July 1st from Mexico City to both Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth.
American Airlines: In December, the airline will add service from Miami to San Andres Island, Columbia, and Chetumal, Mexico. Seasonal Saturday service will also be added from November to April from Miami to Albany; NY, Burlington, VT; Madison, WI; and Syracuse, NY. Daily service from Miami to Salt Lake City will operate from December to April. Year-round service from Miami to Tulsa, OK will begin in November.
Air France: Through October 29th, the airline will operate nonstop service from Denver to Paris, three times a week.
Spirit Airlines: This fall, Spirit will add daily flights from Milwaukee to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Phoenix and Tampa. The airline will also add three weekly flights to Cancun from Milwaukee.
Frontier Airlines: Starting this month, Frontier will operate direct flights from Miami to Nassau four times a week.
Air Canada: Starting August 1st, the airline plans to resume up to four weekly flights between Calgary and Frankfurt.
